Competition Bureau issues report on AI and competition

The Canadian Competition Bureau released a report titled “Consultation on Artificial Intelligence and Competition: What We Heard”, summarising conclusions from its consultation on AI and competition launched on 20 March 2024. Conclusions from the report relate to (1) the rapid evolution of AI technology affecting market dynamics, (2) significant investments by large incumbent firms potentially impacting competition, (3) the possibility of AI facilitating anti-competitive conduct, and (4) positive feedback on the Bureau’s proactive engagement in this area.
