It is reported that, according to Canada AI Minster Evan Solomon, the Canadian government is currently considering which aspects of the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA) it may revive, and will consult on any new rules for AI before introducing them. However, Minister Solomon said the Liberal Party will not reintroduce the previous bill wholesale, but will instead focus on a new regulatory framework to address copyright issues in AI – “In principle, we support the idea that creators have rights to be compensated for usage of their work…But where that line is is still being determined by the courts” (Solomon).
