CAC launches special campaign to clean up internet and “Rectifying the Chaos in AI Applications”

The Cyberspace Administration of China has initiated a four-month campaign titled “Clean Up the Internet: Rectifying the Chaos in AI Applications” to regulate AI services, promote industry development, and protect citizens’ rights. This campaign consists of two phases: (1) addressing typical violations in AI application services, including issues like failure to register large-scale models, inadequate security measures, AI data poisoning, and improper labeling of synthetic content; and (2) targetting the creation and dissemination of harmful information, including digital garbage, false information, impersonation, and violations of minors’ rights. The campaign aims to enhance governance of AI technology, enforce compliance among platforms, and ensure the responsible use of AI, with local administrations tasked to oversee and rectify identified issues effectively.
