AI model providers see revised GPAI Code of Practice with streamlined risk measures

It is reported that AI companies developing general-purpose models have received a streamlined draft of the GPAI Code of Practice to help comply with the EU AI Act’s systemic risk rules. The revised code clarifies principles like proportionality and lifecycle management, broadens the risk categories to include fundamental rights and democratic processes, and maintains third-party model evaluators while detailing certain conditions for using internal teams.  The final version is expected to be published in early July 2025 and the general-purpose AI rules will take effect on 2 August 2025.
