Three House Democrats, Reps. Josh Gottheimer, Valerie Foushee, and Ted Lieu, have written to the CEOs of OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceXAI, Google, and Meta demanding a complete inventory of every known instance in which their models or agents gained or attempted to gain unauthorised access to systems outside company control. The letter follows recent breaches, including an OpenAI agent that accessed non-public Australian Medicare portal data in June. The Democrats warned that such incidents “would constitute serious cyber crimes if a human was responsible.” The three lawmakers co-chair a Democratic leadership commission drafting AI recommendations. Although they lack subpoena authority now, that could change if the party wins the House in the midterms. The letter was sent ahead of a White House AI summit with President Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson.
