King’s College London, The City Law School and BPP University Law School are first to join, with students at pro bono clinics using Legora on live cases from day one.
LONDON, September 29, 2026 – Legora today announced the expansion of its Legal AI Scholars Programme to the United Kingdom, collaborating with leading UK law schools to integrate professional-grade legal AI across their programmes. Applications range from embedding Legora across professional legal training to the work students are doing in the schools’ pro bono legal clinics, where they use Legora to deliver real legal help to members of the community.
The founding UK members of the initiative are King’s College London, The City Law School and BPP University Law School. Each school gains access to the same enterprise-grade Legora platform used by leading law firms and in-house legal teams worldwide, along with free student and faculty licenses and specialised training. Legora’s dedicated law school team works directly with faculty to develop AI-focused instruction that pairs practical skills with ethical guardrails.
The UK is one of the first markets outside the United States to join the Legal AI Scholars Programme, which launched in March with nine US law schools including Stanford, Northwestern and the University of Chicago. Its arrival is timely: in August the Solicitors Regulation Authority issued a formal warning notice on the misuse of AI, making clear that solicitors remain accountable for AI-assisted work and must be competent to supervise it. For law schools, AI literacy is becoming less elective and more of a professional obligation.
That shift is already reflected in how future solicitors are being trained. BPP University Law School prepares thousands of students each year for roles in professional legal practice which now has to include the effective use of AI. Jo-Anne Pugh, Dean of BPP Law School said, “BPP is excited to add Legora to the range of AI tools it offers to its students to enhance their professional skills and ensure they are desk-ready for the rapidly evolving AI transformation of modern legal practice”.
At King’s and City, the programme’s impact comes into sharpest focus in the pro bono clinics. Students volunteer to take on real matters for people with limited access to legal assistance, spanning employment issues, criminal appeals, personal injury and more. With Legora, students raise the quality of their research, review, and drafting, extending the reach of clinics that provide a vital service to their communities. It is legal work that matters, done by students who are learning to practice at a higher level from day one.
