Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie today announced a rollout of Legora, making the platform available to lawyers across its global network. The announcement marks the latest milestone in the Firm’s sustained, decade-long commitment to innovating to deliver better client outcomes.
Baker McKenzie’s AI journey began in 2016, when the Firm first positioned itself at the forefront of thinking about AI and machine learning in the legal industry. The Firm was one of the first global law firms to put in place an AI strategy in 2017 and also one of the first to establish an AI-first legal practice in 2021 (then called BakerML, now called Applied AI).
“Our AI strategy is rooted in delivering better client outcomes, not technology for its own sake. We actively push back against the hype. We are looking for use cases where the deployment of AI, and other innovation, makes the product we sell more valuable for our clients,” said Ben Allgrove, Partner and Chief Innovation Officer at Baker McKenzie. “That requires more than software. It requires technology partners willing to build and learn alongside us, understand what our clients need and how we work, and then help us get to outcomes that actually deliver better. We’re thrilled to have entered into this strategic partnership with Legora.”
Baker McKenzie is investing heavily in giving its lawyers the AI tools and training they need to ‘do law’ faster and better. “Being a high-performing lawyer in 2026 is no longer just about knowing the law; it is about using AI effectively to deliver it,” added Ben Allgrove. In addition to Legora, and other technology, the Firm is investing in advanced training, including a flagship AI Accelerator Program, which is an intensive, in-person program for high-performing associates and counsel across practice groups. This is layered on top of the Firm’s global training program available to all lawyers and the recruitment of a new senior role, Practice Innovation Lawyer, in each of the Firm’s global practice groups.
Additionally, Baker McKenzie continues to invest in and grow its award-winning Applied AI practice – a cross-disciplinary team of technologists and specialist lawyers who design and deploy intelligent legal workflows across matters including large-scale transactions, disputes, global compliance audits, data breach response, transfer pricing, employment advice, and commercial projects. Legora’s legal engineers will work directly alongside this team and the Practice Innovation Lawyers, helping to design, build, and iterate on custom workflows within the platform, accelerating the Firm’s ability to turn legal expertise into scalable, repeatable solutions.
“Baker McKenzie has one of the most serious and sustained commitments to AI in the legal industry,” said Max Junestrand, CEO and Co-Founder of Legora. “This is a firm that has been building toward this moment for a decade – not chasing a trend, but executing a strategy. We are proud to be part of that next chapter, and to support their lawyers in delivering exceptional outcomes for clients around the world.”
