Australian government signs MoU with Microsoft

The Australian Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Microsoft to enhance national AI capabilities as part of the National AI Plan, which aims to leverage AI opportunities while ensuring safety and responsible development. This MOU, the second under the National AI Plan, establishes a collaborative framework with Microsoft to strengthen AI infrastructure, attract investment, and improve safety, aligning with Australia’s national interests. Microsoft plans to continue investing in Australian AI capabilities and cloud computing, assist the government in understanding future infrastructure needs, and collaborate on AI safety and workforce development. The partnership also includes Microsoft’s commitment to expand its data center footprint in Australia and support digital skills initiatives through the Microsoft Datacentre Academy.
